Too many days to count "sleeps" until Christmas, but belive me....the countdown is on! The kids are SO very excited about Santa and Christmas, that it's all they can talk about!
The kids have now realized that whatever is the Touch and Feel will most likely be used again some other time during the day! Today it was popsicle sticks. We all brainstormed what we could possibly make with those sticks....the kiddos were full of ideas.....snowmen, presents, trees.....what would it be??
Ms. Michelle came today with LOTS of finger fun activities. We rotated through different stations of fine motor games. There were puzzles, foam board hammering, building, matching, using tongs and tweezers, and stringing beads. The kids all had their favorites, but they took turns and shared so nicely. They even took time to explain the directions of the stations when an adult couldn't get there quick enough. They worked quietly and intently the whole time!!
Our story today was Christmas Lights by Ann Fearrington. This is a story about a family who takes an adventure looking at all the Christmas lights around the city. They find lights on buildings, in trees, and on houses. All different colors and in lots of Christmas shapes. We talked about where each of them had seen lights around the city and where they had lights at their house.
For art, we put those popsicle sticks to good use. We made Christmas tree shaped ornaments and decorated them with lots of pretend lights. You won't find these in your child's book bag because we are saving them for a special project later next week.
Our show practice was extra special today because the kids got to use a microphone. They were so excited about hearing their voices. We were battling a serious case of the giggles.....but we made it through. The performance is starting to come together.....the kids are even practicing when you will clap for them and when they will bow for doing such a great job! Who knew there were SO many things to learn!!
