Ms. Michelle was out sick today. The kids missed her a lot and had plenty of advice and helpful hints to make her feel better!
Our book was Merry Christmas, Big Hungry Bear! by Don and Audrey Wood. The story is about a mouse who has lots of presents and decorations in his house, but learns about a big, hungry bear in a cave that never gets any Christmas presents. The mouse decides to take some holiday cheer up to the bear.....but he does so very quietly because he is actually pretty scared of this bear. It turns out that bear wakes up, but only to give mouse a super big present. Mouse takes the present home to his house and puts it under the tree. The best part of the story is that it ends without telling you what is inside the present. We all used our imaginations to predict what the present might be. It was fun to hear the kids guess what bear might have given mouse.
For art, we made our very own Christmas mice. The children were so excited about the candy cane tales that we gave our mice! And, as always, googly eyes were a bit hit too!
We spent the time after lunch prepping the children for our big holiday program. We started practicing our Christmas songs and read our story that they will be performing. I'm not sure they really understand it all just yet.....but they are really looking forward to all the parents coming to school again to see them!
