The Perfect Thanksgiving

The day began with a short video treat for the kids.  Who better than Charlie Brown to help explain the meaning of Thanksgiving and the importance of being with friends and family??  A throwback to the teacher's generation, for sure, but worthy none the less! 

Ms. Michelle came today.  Another obstacle course with some fun balancing objects.  The kids crawled through a tunnel, hop on 6 circles and then threw a play fish through a shape cut-out on a board. They encouraged each other throughout the activity and strengthened their arms and legs. The kids also had "tummy time". They each had a large piece of paper and picked a big stencil to use. Each kid traced the stencil and then colored a picture. Working on our tummy is hard work but it was great for focusing on our upper body strength.

Art today was all about getting ready for the Family Feast!  Each child choose a hat to make and wear....were they going to be pilgrims or indians?  It was pretty evenly split.....which almost NEVER happens!  We were hoping both parties would be represented equally, but we weren't certain so we had plenty of each hat!   We put out the decorations we had made for the table, cleaned up the room a little bit, and sang some songs while we waited for our guests to arrive. 

The Family Feast was FANTASTIC!  Thank you so much for coming today to celebrate Thanksgiving with your children and remember how lucky and blessed we all are!  The kids loved sharing the classroom with thier families. It was great to have parents join us for some songs and a story.  We hope you enjoyed "school" as much as your kiddos enjoyed you being here!

The Perfect Thanksgiving by Eileen Spinelli was the story we shared with parents today.  This is a tale of two families who couldn't be more opposite. Family number one seems just perfect-with a plump golden turkey, gorgeous whipped cream swirls atop their pie, and lace napkins on the table. Family number two, on the other hand, seems far from it! The turkey burns, the Jell-O wiggles and jiggles right to the floor, and Dad's shirt serves as napkin. What could these two very different families possibly have in common? It serves as a simple reminder that whatever your holiday might look like.....it's really all about FAMILY!!
