Brush Your Teeth...

The kids had a big surprise when they came in this morning.....MARSHMELLOWS in the Touch and Feel! We smelled them, squished them, rolled them....and I know that you'll all be shocked by this....but not one....not even part of one....got eaten! After the lesson yesterday on germs, it was easy to keep the marshmellows out of their mouths. And....we deemed these marshmellows.....special "art marshmellows", so to be honest, the kids weren't even that interested in eating them!

The rain held off , so we did get to play outside today. It was super windy, but the kids did some relay races and played soccer. It was actually a nice day for playing outside.

Going to The Dentist was our book of the day. This book describes a first trip to the dentist. It talks about the chair, and the x-rays, and the people that work there. Some kids shared personal experiences from their recent trips to the dentist. Carter even told everyone about his first lost tooth! They all had some questions about losing teeth and the Tooth Fairy!

After the story, we made a chart to help us remember things that help us have healthy teeth and things that are not so healthy for our teeth. We tried to stick to things that were clearly one or the other, like brushing your teeth and eating candy, because it gets kinda tricky when the kids want to know where pizza would go! Sometimes they are too smart for their own good!

We talked to the kids about how many teeth they had and some other parts of the mouth. For art, we constructed a mouth.....made from those special art marshmellows! The kids worked so hard to put that all together. Then they broke out into "Marshmellow Mouth" conversations with each other!

We ended the day with two songs all about brushing your teeth! The kids LOVED these songs and I wouldn't be surprised if you hear them tonight while they are getting ready for bed.
