Things I Like!

The Touch and Feel today was full of colorful, plastic shapes.  We named the shapes (octagon was definitely the favorite), and sorted (blue had the most), and created (snowmen, faces, houses, and stop signs). 

During our morning circle, we practiced our Days of the Week song during calendar and talked about the weather.  The weather is a little confusing this week....one minute it's raining, then it's sunny, it's kinda cloudy, then bright and sun shining.....VERY difficult to classify!!  We have all learned so many of our friends names and we are even beginning to recognize them in print! 

The playground, as always, was so much fun!  The Weekday Friends started a game of Duck, Duck, Goose that our kids were really interested in watching.  No joiners just yet.....but, we might practice in a smaller group next week, so we'll be ready next time the opportunity presents itself! 

Our story, "I Like Ketchup Sandwiches" by Lisa Conway, told about a girl that liked to do many things. She was bored in the car and decided to think about all the things she liked. She liked dancing, putting ice cubes in her milk, going to grandma's house, and pretending she was a horse. Time went by so quickly when she thought of things she liked...before she knew it she was at her grandma's house. When the story was finished,  we all put on our thinking caps and shared all the things we liked. Things we like to eat, places we like to go, and things we like to do!  We were very excited to share our ideas and together we made a VERY long list!

With a little direction, one thing that we determined everyone in our class likes is BUBBLES!  So....for science, we made bubbles!  The kids all learned that you need two ingredients to make your own bubbles.  Soap and water!  Everyone worked together and had a part in gathering, mixing, and stirring.  Now, here's a warning that we learned the hard way....it takes A LOT (I mean, a whole lot) of soap for this to work.  And the store bought bubbles are much more effective!  Either way, the kids thought it was fabulous! 

We took the bubble mix and used it to make our very unique art.  Bubble Art.  We died the mix red and green and blew it on our white paper.  The result was a beautiful, one-of-a-kind design!  If your child came home with red and/or green stains.....this is why!  It was SO hard to let the bubbles pop on the paper.  The kids wanted to pop them with their hands so badly!

Music today included a Speech Garden favorite....the tooty ta!  It was a fun way to end the week!  I can't believe that we are already done with Week 1!  We ended the day with a big cheer....for a great week, at a new school, with new friends! Time sure does fly when you are having fun.....can't wait to see what next week has in store!!
