Happy Valentine's Day! The kids took turns placing their Valentine's Day cards in their friend's bags first thing this morning. They had to identify each friend's name and then find the matching Valentine's Day bag. They loved sharing their cards...but they always kept an eye on what they were getting in their bags. There were so many great surprises in their bags that we decided to have them wait to read them all at home.
Before we headed Out and About, we read "The Giant Hug" by Sandra Horning. The main character, Owen, decides to send his Granny a hug through the mail. He didn't want to send a picture of a hug or a card that had a hug inside....he wanted to send a real hug! His hug traveled across the country. Each mail person passing it along until it reached Granny herself. After reading the story we talked about Valentine's Day. Today is a day when you tell people you love them a, give hugs, and ask them to "be my valentine."

For our special Out and About we went to ImaginOn to see Sammy the Magician. The theater was very big, but our seats were very close to the stage so we could see everything!! Although the show wasn't so "shocking" for the adults.....I think most of us could clearly see how most of the tricks were done.....the kids LOVED it! Some of the kids favorite tricks were the fire trick, the lady escaping from the box, the card trick and the lady floating in the air. The kids thought the magic was very cool! There was some disappointment that he didn't pull a rabbit out of a hat.....they were all waiting on that since it was the only notion of "magic" that they had!
Spending the day at the magic show was a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day. Have fun reading all the wonderful cards!
